Author Guidelines

Electronic submission of manuscripts is required. No other form of submission is accepted. The Journal Electronic Submission and Peer Review System that can be accessed at http://hkmodergi.org allows authors to submit manuscripts online to be reviewed, edited, and published in electronic formats (PDF). Users can also view and track the status of their manuscripts via the electronic system.

Author’s roles in editorial process via electronic system are as follows:

  • Preparation of manuscript
  • Submission of manuscript
  • Revising and editing the manuscript according to the peer-review comments
  • Editing (copyediting, proofreading)

The authors are notified by e-mail at each step during the editorial process. If you experience difficulties with the online system, please contact the Managing Editor.

Manuscripts under review, accepted for publication or published elsewhere will be rejected.

If the manuscript accepted for publication, it will be officially published online first at the Journal web site within two weeks. The printed version will be available in future issues.

Preparation of Manuscript

All papers should be written in English for editorial process. If a manuscript is accepted for publication, translation of the manuscript into Turkish language will also be made available for publication.   See the Manuscript Preparation Guideline for more information to prepare a manuscript.

Non-native English or Turkish speakers should ask a native speaker to check the quality of the language before submitting the manuscript.

All authors are responsible for their content of manuscript.

Submission of Manuscript

Authors must have a user account to make a submission. Please register as a new user if you access for the first time to the online system. Registered users should follow the submission steps to upload their manuscript (in PDF format) and supplementary files by logging in to the online system.

Through online submission of a manuscript to this Journal, JGG, all authors affirm that the manuscript has not been published previously nor is under consideration by another journal and will not be simultaneously submitted elsewhere.

Furthermore, authors may send a cover letter to the editor by e-mail, specifying any associations that pose a potential conflict of interest. Cover letter may also include suggestions for inclusion (or exclusion) of certain reviewers with their contact information.

For further information, please refer to the Electronic Submission Guideline.

Peer Review Process

The author’s manuscript initially reviewed by the editor in chief, who has complete authority to accept or reject a submitted manuscript on the basis of suitability to the aim and scope of the Journal and scientific merits.

If your manuscript is accepted for peer review process, it will be send to the section editor who is an expert in the relevant field. Section editor sends the manuscript to at least two reviewers. Editors may also act as a reviewer. The Author may be asked to revise the manuscript according to the revision comments uploaded by each reviewer and/or editor.

On the basis of comments of reviewers and/or editors, one of the decisions among the “Accept Submission”, “Revisions Required”, “Resubmit for Review” or “Decline Submission” can be selected by the editors.

If the decision is “Accept Submission”, than the manuscript will go to the Editing process.

If the decision is “Revisions Required”, the manuscript will be available to be accepted without another round of review, after the author have been incorporated the minor changes suggested by the reviewers and/or editors.

If reviewers or/and editors address major issues with significant changes that must be reconsidered in the manuscript, a second round of review may be initiated by selecting “Resubmit for Review” decision. In this case, the Author will be asked by an e-mail with an attached outline of major issues to incorporate changes prior to resubmitting it to the Reviewers. For the second round, the section editor may send a request to the reviewers from round one or select other reviewers, but the manuscript will usually be returned to the original referees for evaluation.

In case, “Decline Submission” option is decided for the submission, the manuscript will not be accepted to publishing in this Journal and moved to the archive with ‘Declined’ status.

Once Author’s submission has been approved for publication, it is considered in editing (copyediting, layout editing and proofreading).

To track your submission's progress through the editorial process, you will need to log in to the online system. For further information on tracking the status of your submitted manuscript and online peer-review process, refer to the Electronic Submission Guideline.

Editing

Once the manuscript has been accepted for publication, copyediting will begin to correct any grammatical and stylistic errors or to improve clarity and readability. Authors may be asked to review the copyeditor’s changes and make any final corrections.

Upon compilation of copyediting, the layout editor takes the copyedited version of the manuscript and converts it into a format (known as galley in the online system) suitable for publishing. There is no responsibility of authors in layout editing process.

The final editing stage is proofreading. Once the galleys have been uploaded by the layout editor, authors are informed via email from the editor and asked to proofread the PDF versions of their articles, paying particular attention to typesetting, accuracy and completeness of mathematics, tables and graphics.

Please, see the Electronic Submission Guideline including detailed instructions on online tools to read and respond to the editing comments.
